GMAT’s “Think Like an Entrepreneur”

This past Spring college students across the country got the chance to showcase their entrepreneurial pursuits in hopes of winning some massive cash. It was all part of GMAT’s “Think Like an Entrepreneur Competition” which invited students, either individually or as part of a team, to submit entries that shed light on a social cause they felt passionately about. A panel of esteemed judges narrowed down the entries to 10 semi-finalists and then students set to work selecting the winners through online voting.

Submissions ranged from educational apps to sustainable clothing lines, self-defense jewelry to literacy programs for at risk youth, and everything in between. The grand prize winner from Hofstra University beat out everyone else to take home $10,000 for his mobile health app that connects those suffering from addiction with 24/7 virtual support. On top of the grand prize, GMAT also gave away four $500 first place prizes which went to students from Marquette University, Elon University, Clark Atlanta University, and MIT.

The content and messaging of the campaign successfully extended GMAT’s reach beyond strictly upperclassmen business majors and led to the collection of leads from interested students in all class years and across many different majors. Faculty also took part in helping to spread the word about the competition to their students, making this semester one for the books!
